Oracle for Human Capital Management is one of the finest HR software connecting all human resources & allows you to manage all employee-related processes under a single interface. It’s become a necessity of not just major enterprises but is also useful for small & medium-sized companies to ensure proper management of global HR and to provide a smooth customer experience.

With modules such as Core HR, payroll, absence monitoring, time & labour, & talent management; it allows the management of all HR-related processes.

However, its in-depth modules & functions can at times confuse the users.

Within Oracle HCM Cloud, Time & Labor module provides the option for employees to record their working hours. The entered hours are categorized into multiple types of hours (e.g. regular, overtime, double-time, nighttime, etc.) These entered hours are reviewed by the manager while approving the time card.

The default views just show the hours based on the total of reported and calculated hours. However, it does not show the different types of hours in a consolidated view. If there are multiple hours types, then it’s difficult for managers to review the employees submitted hours while approving the time card. The default setup doesn’t show the calculated hours based on hours type.

This article explains the setup configuration that is needed in the Time & Labor module of Oracle HCM Cloud to display the calculated hours on the Manager’s approval page based on the hour’s type.

Default setup

First, log in as an employee and submit the time card with the default setup

View by “Calculated summary by earned date”

Now, log in as Manager and review the time card for approval

Monday reported hours are divided into multiple hours, but since the hour’s type (Like regular, overtime or double time) are not displayed on the page, the manager is not able to confirm the details of the additional hours.

Changes on Responsive UI for manager time layout from the default setup

Make the following changes to the responsive UI

Login as manager and review the time card again

This view gives a clear understanding to the manager with the different type of hours calculated based on reported hours of employees.

Clicking the down arrow will give the details of hours type calculated in the week.

This small change in the layout setup will give more understanding to the manager while approving the time card. We hope this article helped you to improve the time layout configuration, especially for the manager view.
